Rail & Recherche n°23 - April/May/June 2002

One of the first railways to develop mathematical optimisation tools, SNCF now wants to go a step further. "We'd like to take a global approach, identify all potential niches for these techniques and industrialise them," says Daniel Gauyacq, of the Applied Decision Engineering unit. How? By designing multi-application software blocks to reduce development times. All data fed into the software must be compatible, so SNCF is progressively harmonising its information systems, thereby simplifying their maintenance.
