The human element



Rail transport is provided through a complex system, and the quality of service is measured on a daily basis not only by objective, technology-related criteria, but also by the quality of the human relations involved in delivering this service. This human dimension must therefore be taken into consideration in all the engineering that goes into the transport service. SNCF Research’s projects in the human and social sciences are focused mainly on four areas: safety, people at work, training, and customer service relations.
